Ever since its opening in 2003 the national press has noticed that something was going on in Volendam. Some things in life just sells itself. To us this is saying something about our quality, something which we are quite proud of and where we do it all for.

The smokehouse

The heart of our pavilion is shaped around our smokehouse, where for 5 generations long the eel is smoked in a traditional way. The eel smokehouse of Smit-Bokkum is worldwide renowned. Thanks to the smoked eels of Smit-Bokkum, the ‘Volendammers' earned their nickname of ‘eel-farmers' and anyone who tastes our eels can understand why....

With fitting pride we'd like to announce that our famous casserole-eel and other delicious dishes of Smit-Bokkum hasn't gone unnoticed by the gastronomic readers of ‘Elsevier'. On the website of ‘Elsevier', Smit-Bokkum has been added to the list of best restaurants of Northern-Holland!
